As a design-build company located in Walpole, NH, we are seeking skilled Woodworkers to join our growing team. As a Woodworker at Bensonwood, you will work collaboratively with a team of woodworking associates under the guidance of a team leader. This role is essential for operating machine tools to produce the beautiful and custom millwork pieces that define a Bensonwood home. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including making jigs for specific tasks and selecting the appropriate tools for each job. You will perform milling tasks such as jointing, ripping, planing, and crosscutting, as well as machining tasks that include shaping, routing, drilling, and dadoing. Finishing tasks will also be part of your responsibilities, which involve scraping, sanding, spraying, and selecting and applying finishes. Reading shop drawings and monitoring feed rates and speeds are crucial to ensure the quality of the work produced. Additionally, you will be expected to produce cut lists to facilitate the workflow. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of woodworking shop experience, with machinist shop skills being applicable. Familiarity with computer programs such as AutoCAD is helpful, as is a desire to learn and apply innovative green building techniques. This role requires standing for long periods, walking, and running, as well as mechanical aptitude and the ability to handle tools and equipment safely. You should be able to lift at least 50 lbs, navigate high elevations, and operate hazardous equipment safely. Travel may be required, sometimes for weeks at a time, as this role includes site time, and you should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and temperatures, including overtime if necessary.
