About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Three vibrant, pedestrian-friendly village areas host lodging, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and family activities. During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility. Position includes coaching participants and overseeing guests in the Woodward Barn, which is an indoor training facility containing trampolines, skatelite, foam pits, a spring floor and skate/BMX/inline features as well as working with the Woodward Supervisors/Leads to achieve operational goals. Primary focus is working with guests to provide a unique programming experience for snowboarders and skiers through safe coaching, trampoline, tumbling, skatelite and terrain park (on to snow) progressions. Applicants must have experience in teaching snowboarding, skiing, or gymnastics, must have trampoline teaching and spotting experience, as well as great safety record. Excellent communication and leadership skills required.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after position is accepted. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching snowboarding, skiing or gymnastics preferred
  • Experience working with kids and/or teens preferred
  • General knowledge of Woodward and related products preferred
  • Must have in depth knowledge of freestyle skiing and snowboarding tricks, trampoline progressions, BMX, Scooters or Skateboarding and terminology associated with each discipline
  • Experience working with a team, private club or academy preferred
  • Experience working in a camp environment preferred
  • College Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Must provide 3 work related references
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Basic knowledge of zone coaching and ability to demonstrate through safe spotting, technique, and progression in all aspects of the Barn facility.
  • Participate in coach training for progression-based teaching on trampolines, skatelite, foam pits, ramps, and features.
  • Effectively oversee participants in the barn to ensure safety standards and proper skill progressions are being followed daily
  • Create a safe and fun environment for guests, participants, and co-workers while on duty in the Barn.
  • Acts as a role model to participants, guests, and co-workers.
  • Performs daily routine maintenance protocols inside and outside of the Barn facility regarding cleaning schedules, daily and weekly inspections of features and equipment, snow removal procedures and other manual tasks.
  • Assists in maintenance and repair of Barn facility and equipment including roller boards/skis and relays information to coach lead/supervisor on any equipment needs or issues.
  • General knowledge of Front Desk operations and ability to perform duties.
  • Computer skills in relation to Barn products, retail products, Copper Mountain products and how to properly sell, fulfill orders and products in system.
  • Answers and responds to Woodward phone calls in a professional helpful manner.
  • Knows protocols and procedures for reporting injuries and appropriate response in dealing with injured guests or co-workers.
  • Ability to complete daily tasks and ensure they are completed in a timely manner with no supervision.
  • Uphold the highest standard of professionalism as a member of the Woodward Copper staff.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in a fast-paced action sports setting.
  • Takes an active stance in helping improve Woodward operations and comes up with new ideas and ways to implement.
  • Knowledge of system regarding Barn bookings, private lessons, birthday parties and associated products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, kids, teens, parents, adults and co-workers as a positive role model and willingness to act as an ambassador to accomplish the Woodward Copper branding and goals.
  • Ability to motivate kids, teens, and adults in an action sports setting.
  • Ability to address guest complaints and resolve problems in a professional manner.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the entire Copper Mountain community and fellow co-workers.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.
  • Upholds the most professional image.
  • Continually strives to exceed our guest’s expectations and create memories for our guests and staff.
