About The Position

Franjo Construction ( www.franjoconstruction.com - Voted 5x Top Workplace) is looking for a Wood Framing Foreman to supervise and coordinate field crews in the construction, installation, and repair of structural wood framing for commercial building projects. This position ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Foreman serves as the primary on-site leader, working closely with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, and crew members to maintain productive daily operations. This includes, but not limited to, coordination and execution of all self-performed work, assisting with and properly managing all subcontractors. The Foreman will have general knowledge/ understanding of all contract documents and project schedule ensuring a safe and successful project to be delivered on time. This position will work in the surrounding Pittsburgh, PA area and will report directly to the Self Perform Operations Project Manager, and indirectly to the Site Superintendent. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial wood framing, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, materials, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural details, and specifications.
  • Proficient with framing carpentry tools, equipment, and measuring systems.
  • Ability to organize crews and manage workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical work in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, subcontractors, and crew members.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proper documentation.
  • Must be able to pass a 7 year background check.
  • We also conduct pre-employment drug testing.
  • Job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Experience with commercial multi-story wood structures.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Layout walls, floors, roofs, and other framing systems accurately.
  • Ensure framing materials are installed per code, plans, and company standards.
  • Coordinate equipment, tools, and material needs with the Superintendent.
  • Monitor quality control and correct work issues promptly.
  • Enforce all company and OSHA safety requirements on-site.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and inspections.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate progress, issues, delays, and needs to the Superintendent clearly and promptly.
  • Track crew hours, material usage, and production quantities.
  • Participate in project planning, look-ahead scheduling, and problem-solving discussions.
  • Lead and supervise framing crews on commercial construction job sites.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress and productivity.
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper framing techniques, safety practices, and equipment use.
  • Maintain discipline, teamwork, and a respectful work environment.
