About The Position

The Women’s Center Clinician works as part of the Behavioral Health department to provide on-demand clinical supports within the Carolyn Conner’s Women’s Center, a dedicated space for all women and non-binary guests at St. Francis House. The Clinician provides brief treatment,crisis management and de-escalation, clinical assessment, referrals to appropriate levels of care, and general advocacy services with a specialized focus on the unique needs of women and non-binary people experiencing homelessness. The Clinician helps guests obtain the skills, support, and resources needed to achieve stability in key areas such as housing, income, and behavioral health. This position will work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team. Behavioral Health at St. Francis House is grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered and recovery-oriented practices in order to assist guests in addressing the various and complex barriers associated with homelessness.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment with compassion and professionalism.
  • Basic understanding of and commitment to taking a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of community resources and best practices with at-risk populations.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques or crisis intervention preferred.
  • Required: Master’s degree in Social Work or related field.
  • LCSW required (or LCSW eligible with willingness to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire). LMHC will be considered.
  • Ability to apply experience and insights from traditional formal treatment models to a less traditional, casual milieu based setting.
  • Experience working with highly vulnerable, high-barrier individuals and awareness of issues common to those who are experiencing homelessness.
  • Due to uniqueness of Center must identify as a woman or a non-binary person.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in creating, developing and leading group therapy curriculum preferred.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining high quality clinical services within the therapeutic milieu of the Women’s Center, ensuring a welcoming and engaging environment for all women and non-binary gueststhat is rooted in trauma informed care and harm reduction principals
  • Responds to guests’ immediate needs through a clinical lens by distributing supplies, providing information, and connecting to resources associated with addressing homelessness
  • Independently manages the Women’s Center milieu space when the Women’s Center Coordinator is unavailable
  • Ensures routine, consistent evaluation of service delivery via bi-annual data collection survey to set and maintain program benchmarks.
  • Designs and facilitates clinical groups and workshops on a regular basis within the space in which guests voluntarily participate.
  • Delivers clinical services for high needs guests with severe and persistent mental illness, complex trauma, and/or substance use disorders.
  • Uses clinical modalities and therapeutic approaches with guests that are rooted in trauma informed care and may include approaches such as solution focused therapy, time limited dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and internal family systems.
  • Provides short term case management as needed, including appropriate linkages, referrals, coordination and follow-up to services including but not limited to ongoing case management, psychiatry, primary care, and housing.
  • Provides crisis intervention within the Women’s Center and throughout the building with female identifying and non-binary guests as appropriate.
  • Supports the Women’s Center Coordinator with continuous program development to enhance guest services within the Women’s Center and respond to emerging needs.
  • Case conferences with internal staff and external service providers to collaborate on service delivery and ensure continuity of clinical care
  • Supports the Women’s Center Coordinator in planning annual Women’s Day events and smaller social events for guests throughout the year, ensuring a clinical lens is applied
  • Maintains timely and accurate notes and documentation.
  • Actively participates in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, and supervisory sessions.
  • Provides back up clinical support to other programs within Behavioral Health on an as-needed basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
