About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the residence hall supervisor and its staff; promote the care and wellbeing of its residents; provide biblical counsel, life coaching, and general encouragement to residence hall students. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the supervisor in the selection of residence hall student leaders Assist residence assistants Assist in evening and weekend on-call responsibility on a rotating basis Organize residence hall events - fundraisers, extra-curricular activities, etc. Transport students to medical facilities Do hospital visitation on a rotating basis Conduct meetings related to residence hall life Keep the resident supervisor informed concerning the needs of students Meet with each new student to BJU both in the first and second semester Meet with the assistant group leaders every week Be alert to the needs of the students by noticing those who are struggling or who are dealing with significant issues Meet each week with the students on disciplinary probation as well as those needing weekly accountability or those who request regular counsel Counsel, advise and mediate conflicts among residents Handle parental concerns regarding residents Maintain regular office and front desk hours Grow in biblical counseling proficiency through experience and study Administer university policies and procedures Serve on the appeals committee Assist in the Student Life office on a rotating basis Act as liaison to all levels of the organization in matters relating to residents and residence hall life Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students or those inquiring about BJU Be present at weekly staff meetings both in and out of the residence hall Oversee maintenance of the residence hall facilities Visit discipleship groups throughout the residence hall Participate in room check an resident good nights (curfew check) Maintain church and outreach attendance accountability

  • Professional in appearance and presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, supervise, and lead
  • Ability to communicate affectively both orally and written
  • Familiarity with BJU residence hall structure
  • An applicant for a position in the Bob Jones University group — Bob Jones University, Bob Jones Academy or BJU Press — must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
