Requirements

  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
  • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) certification
  • Strong clinical skills in wound assessment, treatment, and management
  • Experience in providing patient education and counseling
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team
  • Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for communicating, educating and monitoring changes to clinical practice and expectations including reviewing documentation and providing additional support to staff.
  • Collaborates with the nursing leadership team in the strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems to support and enhance the competence, autonomy, and accountability of the nursing staff including defining nursing standards, practices, and educational needs of patient and nursing staff.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and revises patient plan of care with regards to wound, fistula, ostomy and continent care issues.
  • Provides consultation, direct assistance and education to nursing staff, physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Makes recommendations to the physicians for wound care orders and provides evidence-based research as needed.
  • Trains and supports appropriate clinical staff to effectively assess wounds, recommend appropriate protocols and advocate with physicians.
  • Manages and advises on ostomy issues and performs pre-and post op teaching support and stoma siting as needed.
  • Provides education for clean intermittent catheterization (Memorial Campus).
  • For educational programs, maintains required data, records, and statistics for administrative, regulatory, and evaluation purposes.
  • Provides basic wound care orientation.
