Direct experience in WOC practice and completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education Program are preferred. Job Summary: Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms. Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program. Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers. Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care. Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan. Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education. Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program
  • Two years experience as an RN
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS may be required in designated departments.
  • Nursing Specialty Certification
  • If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.
