About The Position

Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability. In the Wiring group, we build custom hardware for quantum computing systems that operate from DC to microwave frequencies in a cryogenic environment. Our work includes design, test, and production of novel wiring and packaging hardware. Every Google Quantum AI processor must meet our packaging and custom cryogenic wiring requirements before its deployment to the fleet. As a Wiring Technician, you will work with hardware engineers to develop, assemble, and test custom wiring and other cryogenic devices. You will be a critical part of ensuring the smooth operation of cryogenic wiring infrastructure by keeping device and manufacturing data up to date, and monitoring inventory levels. You will also be responsible for creating prototype articles and production volumes of custom hardware. This role is essential for Google Quantum AI to build scalable and reliable electronics for the next level of computing. The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
