The Wireless Network Consulting Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting Service Provider Wi-Fi accounts, focusing on the delivery of Wireless Planning, Design, Implementation, and Optimization Services for Cisco's major clients. This position requires frequent onsite visits in San Jose and involves collaboration with other engineers to meet customer needs while enhancing profitability for Advanced Services delivery teams. The role demands a creative problem solver who can adapt to customer demands and lead technology solutions effectively.

  • Support the delivery of Wireless Planning, Design, Implementation & Optimization Services to major accounts.
  • Capture data using standard Wireless LAN packet capture, analysis, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Assist with architectural planning and design, configuration, and integration support within project delivery.
  • Provide operational support for complex wireless network deployments.
  • Identify and document design/architecture best practices for global Cisco Services adoption.
  • Participate in network design, performance engineering, or problem resolution projects.
  • Assist in the development of business and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to high-level and low-level design activities.
  • Assist in network implementation planning and configuration activities, including test planning and cutover activities.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Wi-Fi portfolio, Wireless Controllers, APs, Cisco Spaces, BLE, and Catalyst Center RF Design.
  • Experience in large enterprise environments, medical clinics, and complex distribution centers.
  • Strong skills with Ekahau, Hamina, or Air Magnet planning software.
  • Ability to lead an RF design team for AP placement.
  • Understanding of LAN Switching and Layer 2 troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with the ISE product line as it pertains to Wi-Fi deployments.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with third-party products such as Ruckus, Aruba, Huawei, and Ericsson.
  • Scripting knowledge in Python or Perl.
  • Industry Neutral Certifications such as CWNE, CWNP.
  • Experience with Mesh and outdoor Wi-Fi deployments.
