About The Position

We are seeking a versatile Wire Harness Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our design services business, collaborating closely with clients to understand their requirements and developing comprehensive wire harness design packages ready for manufacturing. This is an on-site / hybrid opportunity based at the Re:Build AppliedLogix development center in Rochester, NY. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in wire harness design.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD or Electrical Harness Design software (Solidworks Electrical, Zuken, Siemens Capital, etc.)
  • Experience with component selection and generating schematics and harness drawings.
  • Strong understanding of electrical first-principles, RF/ EMC considerations, wire routing, and wire harness assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity and experience with industry standards and regulations related to wire harness design (e.g., UL, IPC, SAE)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality designs on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to gather and understand design requirements for wire harnesses.
  • Review and finalize any missing design inputs, ensuring all specifications are accurately captured.
  • Utilize industry-leading Cadonix Arcadia software tools to create detailed wire harness designs and documentation.
  • Ensure that every design complies with the relevant industry standards and client specifications.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to provide necessary support during the production phase.
  • Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback to optimize designs for functional performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Maintain thorough documentation throughout the design process.
  • Work in a team environment to develop and refine internal processes to improve design quality.
