More information is available on our website https://www.sswtechnologies.com/ [https://www.sswtechnologies.com/] The Onsite Wire Draw Operator will set up, operate, or tend machines to extrude or draw thermoplastic or metal materials into tubes, rods, hoses, wire, bars, or structural shapes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Scale Operator Duties and Rod Loader Duties
  • Forklift Operator
  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacture- related experience preferred
  • Operation of Wire Draw Machine preferred.
  • Detailed and hands-on oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-ups, changeovers, adjustments and quality checks on wire draw machines.
  • Produce wire from hot rolled rods.
  • Load machines with rod, which requires forklift certification.
  • Assembles and set-up to lock dies lineups for the wire draw machines.
  • Determine setup procedures and select machine dies and parts, according to specifications.
  • Monitor and add drawing soap to each box as needed.
  • Continuously monitors the surface appearance of the wire to assure a good quality product is being produced.
  • Adjust controls to draw metal into specified shapes and diameters.
  • Examine, measure, and weigh materials to verify conformance to standards.
  • Measure and examine extruded products to locate defects and to check for conformance to specifications, adjusting controls as necessary to alter products.
  • Repair tangles and breaks in the wire line.
  • Perform buttwelds.
  • Change dies on wire drawer, as needed.
  • Change casting rollers, as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, as directed.
  • Perform quality inspections on wire.
  • Perform tensile testing, utilizing a tensile machine.
  • Reel extruded products into rolls of specified lengths and weights.
  • Load and unload trucks, as needed.
  • Ensure work area is maintained in high level of a 5S standard at all times.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and make minor repairs to equipment.
  • Operate shearing mechanisms to cut rods to specified lengths.
  • Package finished product.
