The Winter Recreation Operations Internship is a paid educational opportunity for college students interested in Parks & Recreation Management, Sports Management, or Hospitality & Tourism Management. The selection process prioritizes upperclassmen seeking to fulfill their school's experiential educational requirements in their junior and senior years. The individual selected for this opportunity will play a valuable role in various winter operations at The Peak, which is the recreational division of Nemacolin's expansive 2,200-acre property. Students will gain hands-on training in a Forbes and AAA-rated environment to set them up for success in their pursuit of a lifelong career in recreation and tourism management. Nemacolin's 16-week internships consist of full-time paid work experience, typically beginning in early May and ending in August. Nemacolin interns are eligible for 3-month on-site housing accommodation, as well as other attractive perks, discounts, and benefits. The pay rate for this opportunity is $15 per hour plus gratuity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for this position.) The Winter Recreation Operations Internship provides exposure to the various areas within the recreational division of Nemacolin, including: Skiing and snowboarding Winter tubing Outdoor ice rink High ropes challenge course Indoor gymnasium Indoor virtual reality simulation Cosmic bowling Axe throwing Jeep off-roading Outdoor pool operations (open year-round)

Requirements

  • Continuous authorization to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • 2nd or 3rd-year student in an accredited collegiate Recreational/Sports/Hospitality Management program, or related field.
  • Commitment to a consecutive 16-week internship, as per intern rotation requirement.
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma.
  • Must possess a passion for outdoor activities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts - including holidays, weekends, etc.
  • Must have a high energy level as good physical condition to maintain activities and various tasks.
