About The Position

The position focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The individual will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages customer return. The role involves assisting the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals, while monitoring all established quality assurance standards. Embracing the Customer 1st strategy is essential, as is encouraging associates to deliver excellent customer service. Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Retail experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, flavor profiles, and how they are made.
• Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the consumer.
• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products.
• Inform customers of wine specials and provide requested products.
• Recommend wine items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Assist customers with pairing wine and other items such as meat, cheeses, and desserts.
• Collaborate with store chef for wine tastings and other programs featuring wines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of any repairs needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks or illegal activities.
