About The Position

Responsible for elevating the guest dining experience through knowledgeable, refined wine service while actively driving wine sales. This role supports the dining room floor by assisting servers, guiding guests through the wine list, and ensuring wine service is polished, seamless, and aligned with the Terrace Restaurant’s upscale coastal identity. The Wine Steward acts as both a hospitality ambassador and a sales professional.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in an upscale or fine-dining restaurant environment preferred
  • Strong wine knowledge with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly
  • Sales-driven mindset with a genuine passion for hospitality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read guests and tailor service appropriately
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • High school or equivalent education required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as WSET, CMS, or similar wine education are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and offer knowledgeable guidance through the wine list
  • Recommend wines based on guest preferences, menu selections, and seasonal offerings
  • Execute proper wine service for bottles and wine by the glass according to Terrace standards
  • Present and open bottles tableside with confidence and professionalism
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and adjust recommendations as needed
  • Maintain a calm, polished presence on the dining room floor
  • Actively promote wine by the glass, bottle selections, and premium offerings
  • Identify opportunities to upsell from glass to bottle when appropriate
  • Drive overall wine revenue while maintaining a guest-first approach
  • Support menu pairings and suggest wines that enhance the dining experience
  • Maintain awareness of sales goals and contribute to revenue growth
  • Represent the Terrace Restaurant and The Pridwin Hotel brand at all times
  • Support a culture of teamwork, communication, and hospitality excellence
  • Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the wine list, including varietals, regions, producers, and vintages
  • Stay informed on menu changes and seasonal pairings
  • Ensure all wine service follows house SOPs and presentation standards
  • Handle glassware by the stem only and maintain pristine presentation
  • Represent the Terrace Restaurant and The Pridwin Hotel brand at all times
  • Step in to support service during peak periods while maintaining wine focus
