We are seeking a professional specializing in Windows systems to help build, operate, and support the physical and virtual Windows Server infrastructure. This infrastructure powers a wide range of internal enterprise applications at APL. In this role, you’ll help ensure performance, reliability, and security for systems that support important work across the Laboratory. You will join a skilled team of engineers who work collaboratively to enable APL staff to tackle some of the leading technical challenges faced nationwide. As a Windows Systems Engineer… Your primary responsibility will be managing Windows Server environments, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading Windows-based systems. You will ensure system stability, data security, and appropriate user access, while solving OS and application performance issues to meet defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will analyze, evaluate, and implement hardware, software, and enterprise management tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Windows Server environment. You will participate in an on-call rotation and help maintain system security and integrity by applying monthly Microsoft OS and third-party security patches using tools such as Ivanti Security Controls and PDQ Deploy.
