About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Windows Automation Engineer to help provide support to our commercial Cloud Service Provider. This position is 100% remote; with travel 1-2x per quarter unless candidate lives near the classified operations center in McLean, VA. The Windows Automation Engineer will maintain the organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures. Troubleshoots complex system hardware and software issues. Performs advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and software packages. Automates repetitive tasks using PowerShell or other available tools. Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions. Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users. Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies. May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals. Provides On-Call Support 2x per quarter for a duration of 2 weeks, 1 week as primary and 1 week as backup. May serve as a team or task lead.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with security technical implementation guidelines (STIGs).
  • Familiarity with concepts such as RBAC, zero trust, and privileged access.
  • Experience automating the deployment and configuration of Windows OS and applications utilizing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting to manage Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Desired State Configuration (DSC) implementation and modules.
  • Experience in modifying existing PowerShell scripts to meet customer use.
  • Ability to create PowerShell scripts from scratch.
  • Ability to use PowerShell to configure software with file-based configurations and/or REST calls.
  • Experience working with GIT; including creating and merging PRs.
  • Experience with PKI and federated services for authentication.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation for operations processes.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must possess a current and active Top Secret (Sensitive Compartmented Information [SCI] eligibility).
  • Must be DoD 8140 / 8570.01-M compliant.
