While reporting to the shift supervisor, the winder operator will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • The ability to run and coordinate the operation of a spiral winding machine.
  • Must have working knowledge and ability to adjust, set-up, and start-up the winder.
  • Must assume responsibility for the safe, quality, and efficient operation of all parts of the can winding and processing equipment.
  • Must work effectively and efficiently with the winder assistant to accomplish all tasks/ responsibilities.
  • Teamwork is a must and is part of overall performance.
  • Must have troubleshooting ability, good manual coordination and continuous learning ability.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to correct and/ or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Completely and accurately fill out all required reports and turn them in to appropriate mail slots. (Material traceability, quality check sheets, interlock checks, downtime reports, etc.)
  • Constantly monitor quality and document quality checks as prescribed.
  • Prepare line and have it operating in time allotted by management.
  • Check all material specifications when brought to the line.
  • Keep rotofeed full and all materials stocked and prepped. Time management and looking ahead is a must.
  • Make sure that all materials are set up for the next operating shift, set-up tubes ran and can bodies cleared from all track work and equipment
  • Constantly exercise good housekeeping and keep all areas clean and neat during the shift and clean for the next operating shift.
  • Constant communication with all members of the operating line. Especially in order to control safety, quality and defect containment.
  • Responsibility/ Accountability to report all downtime and/ or malfunctioning equipment to maintenance and supervision.
  • Responsible for continuous production flow, quick changeover execution with minimal scrap, process adjustments as needed and running equipment to posted speeds.
  • Train other winder assistants as needed according to prescribed guidelines.
  • Uphold and protect all Product Safety guidelines.
  • Meet or exceed designated efficiencies and scrap rates.
