Green Mountain Power is seeking an energetic, innovative Power Production Apprentice this summer. This apprentice position is a great opportunity for a mechanical engineering student or technically oriented person to gain practical and real-world working experience in the electric utility industry. By the end of the summer, this person will have acquired knowledge on electrical mechanical circuits, mechanical generators, various electrical equipment, communication, and more importantly, they will have learned how to work as part of a team across various business units. The successful candidate will apply technical knowledge gained from their mechanical engineering coursework or technical background, to learn the fundamentals of GMP's power production systems. This position requires candidates to quickly learn the innovative tools and software used by GMP for its power generation efforts, understand GMP's design standards and equipment specifications, and work extensively with other mechanical engineering and field personnel to efficiently perform the tasks. This wind tower technician will spend their time primarily working at our Searsburg wind generation facility. In addition, they will be spending time working on our hydro production plants and solar generation facilities.
