The Wind Field Service Technician – Major Component is a highly skilled, fleet-wide traveling role responsible for executing large corrective maintenance and major component replacements on wind turbine generators. This position plays a critical role in restoring turbine availability through complex mechanical and electrical work performed at heights exceeding 300 feet. The role requires strong technical aptitude, precision, and the ability to perform safely and effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments driven by weather and wind-window constraints. Technicians in this role regularly support crane operations for major component replacements and must demonstrate a strong understanding of rigging practices, load control, and clear communication to safely direct crane movements during removal and installation of large turbine components. Weekend, night, and extended-hour work is required, along with extensive travel across the company fleet, often with little or no advance notice.
