About The Position

This is an experiential learning position that allows the Student intern to apply the theory and knowledge learned inside the classroom to the practical application and skills development within the department. The experience must be an extension of the classroom: a learning experience that provides for applying the knowledge gained in the classroom. It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or be the work that a regular employee would routinely perform. The skills and knowledge learned are transferable to other employment opportunities. Learning objectives/goals are clearly defined to relate to the professional goals of the student's academic coursework. The student will be supervised by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of experience. Routine feedback is provided by the supervisor. The department will provide resources, equipment, and facilities to support the learning objectives/goals of the student internship.
