The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry in the College of Science and Engineering invites applications for The Will S. DeLoach Distinguished Professorship in Chemistry. This position is a tenure-track endowed position at the level of Professor. Candidates with research interests in the broad area of chemistry are invited to apply. The successful candidate is expected to maintain excellence in research with a vigorous, externally funded program, to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will also have the opportunity to mentor students in four graduate programs; MS in Marine Science, MS in Chemistry, PhD in Applied Coastal & Ocean Sciences, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. In addition to teaching, research, and service requirements, the position has the following expectations: Evidence of a distinguished record of research in chemistry, Evidence of a distinguished record in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, Experience and success in securing external funding, Experience and ability to engage with the community on matters related to chemistry, A proposed agenda for research, engagement, and service that will bring distinction to UNCW, the College of Science and Engineering, and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The recipient is selected as a distinguished professor for an initial term of five years, beginning in Fall 2025. Renewal of the appointment will be at the discretion of the Provost and Dean of the College of Science and Engineering based on an evaluation of the individual's accomplishments and future vision for the position.
