About the position

The Wildlife Technician Internship at Sierra Pacific Industries offers a unique opportunity for college students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in wildlife biology and forestry. Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing monitoring of sensitive species
  • Conduct forestry and wildlife-related project work requiring demanding physical activity
  • Perform data entry
  • Camp for up to four nights in one week
  • Navigate remote, steep mountainous regions using map, compass, and GPS

Requirements

  • College-level coursework in wildlife biology, forestry, or biological science
  • Knowledge of native wildlife species of California forests
  • Ability to safely hike and navigate alone in remote, steep mountainous regions
  • Possess a valid driver license and have the ability to drive hazardous mountain roads
  • Excellent communication skills
