About The Position

The Natural Resource Technician I/II (TEMPORARY) position is based in Nespelem, Washington, under the Colville Confederated Tribes' Fish and Wildlife Department. The technician will assist with technical wildlife habitat conservation work for the Wildlife Mitigation Project, which is funded by BPA. Responsibilities include maintaining and constructing boundary fences, removing trespassing livestock, controlling noxious weeds, and assisting with sampling methods to quantify and qualify species populations and habitats.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Satisfactory work history.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to conduct fencing and habitat improvement projects.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain project equipment safely.
  • Good physical condition to work and hike in inclement weather and rugged terrain.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 45 lbs. while hiking.
  • Willingness to work variable hours, including long days, early mornings, holidays, and weekends.

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory and field equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the protection, enhancement, and restoration of wildlife species and their habitats.
  • Maintain boundary fences and construct new ones.
  • Replace old fences and posts.
  • Remove livestock that trespass on mitigation lands.
  • Conduct integrated noxious weed control.
  • Operate and maintain project equipment such as 4-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, tractors, chainsaws, and power equipment.
  • Assist with sampling methods to quantify and qualify species populations and habitats.

Benefits

  • $20.00 per hour salary.
