About The Position

The Wildlife Damage Management Technician is responsible for conducting wildlife damage management services and activities, utilizing various tools and equipment to mitigate wildlife-related issues. This role involves working closely with landowners and ranchers, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Farm or ranch background.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of biological sciences and local, state, and federal laws regarding wildlife damage management activities.
  • Knowledge of various control devices, chemicals, and tools required to manage damage caused by predators.
  • Ability to drive and travel as needed to perform duties.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Valid driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain agreement from landowners, ranchers, or administrators prior to conducting wildlife damage management services.
  • Use a variety of control devices, chemicals, tools, firearms, and related equipment for wildlife and avian damage management operations.
  • Prepare baits and lures and set control devices such as snares and traps according to standard operating procedures.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and repair tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain state pesticide records and restrictions.
  • Participate as a gunner or ground crew member in aerial hunting activities.
  • Report activities to the District Supervisor.
  • Use GPS to identify the location of traps and other equipment.
  • Operate and maintain safety in all operations involving motor vehicles, firearms, control devices, and chemicals.
  • Prepare routine records of activities, observations, field conditions, and contacts made.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports and database documents.
