About The Position

The position involves wildlife management and ecological studies, focusing on the correlation between wildlife resources and other resource uses such as timber and recreation. The role includes recommending habitat restoration projects, analyzing the effects of management activities on wildlife, and coordinating with other resource management activities. The candidate will also prepare environmental analysis reports and monitor wildlife program activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Basic Requirement: A degree in Biological Science with specific coursework in wildlife subjects, zoology, and botany or related plant sciences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in conducting wildlife surveys and drafting professional opinions.
  • Advanced training in wildlife biology and performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of wildlife resources.

Responsibilities

  • Correlate wildlife management in studies and surveys with other resource uses such as timber, recreation, and minerals management.
  • Recommend wildlife habitat restoration, enhancement or improvement projects.
  • Provide analysis to assess the effects of management activities on fish, wildlife, and plant resources.
  • Coordinate wildlife management activities with other resources such as recreation and minerals management.
  • Prepare environmental analysis reports affecting wildlife resources.
  • Review Environmental Assessments to determine the adequacy of coordination of wildlife needs.
  • Monitor wildlife program activities, such as a monitoring program for selected wildlife species, to measure response to management activities.
  • Provide leadership in inventories and evaluation of habitat conditions for diverse ecological communities of wildlife.
