This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time position with the Carson City Fire Department, located in beautiful Carson City, NV! The Wildland Fuels Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with program and administration of fuel reduction projects; duties include project management, grants administration, and marketing/social media for the Wildland Fuels Division. This is a grant funded position and as such the incumbent is responsible for knowing and abiding by the rules of the grant. This position will continue to be funded as long as the grant is renewed.

  • Identifies grant funding needs, researches, and maintains information on available federal, state, local and private grant funding sources to maximize funding opportunities available to the Department.
  • Prepares and submits grant applications, ensures grant compliance and accountability; and implements and monitors grant funded projects.
  • Plans for and coordinates grant reporting processes and prepares and submits required grant performance reports to granting agencies.
  • Reviews funding requests and coordinates the review process, as needed.
  • Develops, monitors and maintains grant project tracking systems to ensure timely preparation of grant reimbursement remittances and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records related to grant/program activities; prepare financial, statistical and operational reports for compliance with grant requirements.
  • Perform grant reconciliation and projections.
  • Assist in the development, monitoring and maintenance of Wildland cost allocation projects tracking system.
  • Monitor and maintain Wildland Fire Assignment Funds.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Wildland Fuels strategic planning.
  • Assist with the annual vehicle/equipment inventory audit and adherence to the vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Utilize defensible space inspection and trailer and dumpster reservation software as part of required inspection and usage reporting.
  • Serve as back up to the Wildland Fuels Manager or assist with special projects, as needed.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns.
  • Develop professional promotional materials in a variety of marketing formats.
  • Develop, maintain and implement program related social media channels.
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business management, forestry, natural resource management or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Certificate from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (e.g., S-130, S-190) within first six months of employment.
  • City-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Nevada PERS retirement.
  • Paid time off as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Carson City Wildland Firefighters', Local #2251.
