This position has responsibilities to coordinate, implement, and supervise wildland fire initial attack personnel and equipment to provide a safe and effective fire management capability for the Unit. Work assignments require cooperation and coordination with State and Federal agencies, Volunteer Fire Departments, the public, permanent and seasonal employees and private contractors. The position supervises seasonal activities related to wildland fire protection, buildings, grounds, vehicles and fire-related program projects of the Unit. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, and implement training for Unit personnel. One of the priorities for the Unit is our cooperator relationships; therefore, the Senior Engine Boss will maintain relationships with the adjoining DNRC Units, surrounding National Forests and other federal agencies, and surrounding counties. It directly supervises 3 Type 5 Engines and 6 personnel as directed by the Fire Operation Specialist and the Fire Management Officer. This supervision may be extended on and off the Unit during various work schedules. It may also require maintaining quarters at the duty station. This position performs Unit prevention and general forestry work, equipment and facilities maintenance, as well as other duties as assigned. This position may assist in forestry related tasks.
