About the position

The Woodland School District 50 is seeking a Summer School Reading Specialist/Interventionist for grades 4 to 8, specifically for Spanish-speaking candidates. This position is part of the Wildcat Summer Adventures program and is designed to support students' reading development during the summer session. The role requires a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and candidates are encouraged to demonstrate their experiences related to these values in their applications. The position will be available starting June 9, 2025, and will run until July 3, 2025, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Candidates must possess an Illinois Professional Educator License with a Reading Specialist or Reading Teacher endorsement and a Master's Degree in Reading, along with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of students.
  • Support a positive school climate through the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.
  • Order materials and supplies as per district procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Present curriculum and use a variety of assessment tools.
  • Utilize RtI to assist in reviewing data and implementing interventions for students.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administration, and families to improve academic performance.
  • Conduct district workshops on reading development.
  • Administer state and local standardized tests and interpret results.

Requirements

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (Elementary Grades) with either Reading Specialist or Reading Teacher endorsement.
  • Master's Degree in Reading.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years successful teaching experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years successful reading teaching experience in an elementary school setting.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
