About The Position

The WIC Research Analyst (Research Analyst 3) at the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) plays a crucial role in supporting the State WIC Program by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing qualitative and quantitative data from various sources. This position involves consultation with state WIC teams and local agency staff to address program needs, analyze nutrition risk data, and ensure the accessibility of WIC Management Information System (MIS) data. The analyst will also work on food price and availability data to inform WIC food package recommendations, contributing to the OHA's mission of promoting health equity and improving health outcomes for all Oregonians.

Requirements

  • Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, AND one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in creating and maintaining a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
  • Knowledge of database operation and management, statistical analysis using SPSS, SAS, or STATA.
  • Experience with data visualization software, such as Tableau.
  • Skills in writing technical reports and creating infographics.
  • Ability to summarize and explain complicated research and data analysis to a lay audience.
  • Experience providing direct services to a WIC or MCH population.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and summarize qualitative and quantitative data to support the State WIC Program.
  • Consult with state WIC teams and local agency staff to meet program needs.
  • Analyze nutrition risk data and local agency performance measures, recommending actions based on findings.
  • Ensure WIC Management Information System (MIS) data is accessible and usable by state and local agency staff.
  • Analyze food price and availability data to develop WIC food package recommendations.
