About The Position

The WIC internship at the Fruitvale WIC department in Oakland, CA, is a volunteer position aimed at providing support in various educational and outreach activities. Interns will engage in tasks that enhance the visibility and effectiveness of WIC services, particularly focusing on health education and resource management.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Forms and PowerPoint
• Bilingual in English and either Chinese or Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

• Revising WIC bulletin boards with referral services and health education messaging in English and Spanish
• Creating content for online education, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Forms and PowerPoint preferred)
• Bilingual (Chinese or Spanish speaking preferred) for translating and recording classes for non-English speakers
• Assisting in creating and updating outreach flyers
• Assisting with cost assessment for billboard or bus advertisement for outreach
• Creating a resource page with links for breastfeeding resources (handouts, videos)
• Assisting with inventory of breastfeeding supplies, creating a tracking sheet and process
• Organizing WIC handouts in our WIC classroom and removing outdated materials
• Educating participants on WIC services, WIC curriculum, or WIC electronic platforms
• Data input and analysis of various lactation pilot project data
• Conducting needs assessments for WIC staff, WIC participants, and/or La Clinica staff as appropriate
• Performing other duties as needed by the WIC manager
