Galveston County Health District is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused WIC Clerk I to support our WIC program by assisting clients through the certification process and providing essential clerical and clinical support. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year related experience preferred
• Strong data entry, computer, and customer service skills
• Excellent communication and attention to detail
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between sites
• Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain)
• Willingness to work flexible hours if needed
• Must meet immunization, background check, and screening requirements
• Equivalent education and experience may be considered

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with WIC eligibility and certification requirements
• Measure height/weight and perform hemoglobin or hematocrit tests
• Enter and update client data in the WIC system
• Issue food benefits and manage WIC card inventory
• Schedule appointments and assist walk-ins, calls, and referrals
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and generate reports
• Provide resources and referrals to clients
• Support clinic operations and cross-train with team members
• Travel between sites as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
