About The Position

The WHS Assistant Boys Soccer Coach position involves coaching and providing direction to student-athletes to help them achieve a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The coach is expected to promote the worth of each participant and lead players and staff to reach their individual and collective potential. The role also includes fostering the development of the athletic program within the educational and local community, assisting the superintendent in preparing students for career, life, and college, and working under the direction of the Principal and Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Must be at least twenty-one years old
  • Must pass a background check
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Card
  • Previous coaching experience
  • Must take WIAA online courses
  • Must be current with WIAA coaching clock hours
  • Ability to pass a screening test to provide transportation for student-athletes
  • Regular and punctual attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Bilingual preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coaching soccer at the high school level
  • Knowledge of WIAA rules and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with and promote the core values of the school's Athletic Program
  • Serve as a positive role model for students
  • Plan, organize, and deliver an appropriate range of sports activities and programs for the team
  • Plan, organize, and carry out all practices
  • Assist with sports promotion and development
  • Effectively manage a program and staff
  • Provide oversight and assist with game day preparation
  • Work with the Athletic Director on scheduling game schedules, practice, transportation, and meal arrangements
  • Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior
  • Supervise student-athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms
  • Observe health and safety precautions during all activities
  • Report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Athletic Director and Principal
  • Train assistant coaches in techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategies
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
