About The Position

Tomahawk Scout Camp seeks Whitewater Guide Are you looking for a summer job working with youth in our community? Tomahawk Scout Camp is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our camp team. This position will be responsible for the safe delivery of programs including paddling down the Brule or Flambeau rivers. This individual will be responsible for teaching youth ages 11-17. Meals and Housing for the summer provided. Average wage is $5,000 - $5,200 for the summer season depending on previous experience and position. Housing and meals provided for camp season. Benefits include training in several program areas, personal leadership development, use of program equipment, free parking, great co-workers, scholarship opportunities, and the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of youth. Northern Star Scouting also offers a Sick and Safe Time program for all part-time employees. College aged staff may receive up to a $1,500 scholarship for the completion of a full summer season. The job may be tailored as an internship if needed; it is your responsibility to determine if academic credit is available within your academic department and degree program. Qualifications Must be age 21 or older (prior to start of camp) Experience in whitewater rafting/boating Strong communication skills are required Experience working directly with youth in the classroom, outdoor recreation sites, summer sites, summer youth camp, or other youth programs preferred Experience working with diverse populations between ages of 10 - 18 is desired Experience in Scouting NOT required Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply The summer camp season goes from June 10th - August 17th , with opportunities for additional work through Sept 3. Some positions may required addition pre-camp training (EX: lifeguarding, NRA, camp leadership). We are seeking staff who are available to work weekends and weekdays with a weekly day off. Requirements

Must be age 21 or older (prior to start of camp)
Experience in whitewater rafting/boating
Strong communication skills are required
Experience working directly with youth in the classroom, outdoor recreation sites, summer sites, summer youth camp, or other youth programs preferred
Experience working with diverse populations between ages of 10 - 18 is desired
