About The Position

The West Michigan Whitecaps are seeking a People Operations (HR) Intern to join our team. As a Class High A Minor League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, our mission is to provide affordable family entertainment to the West Michigan community. We pride ourselves on our stellar customer service and our dedication to providing friendly faces, open minds, and our time and energy to our fans. This internship is designed to provide hands-on career development training and job shadowing opportunities for college students pursuing a degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field. Interns will gain valuable experience in various aspects of the hiring process and employee engagement while enjoying a fun and supportive work environment.

Requirements

• Must be a college or university Junior or Senior, within 3 semesters of graduating.
• Pursuing a degree in Business, Human Resources, or a comparable field.
• Availability to work 40 hours a week from March 2nd through mid-September.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver's license.
• Positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in customer service or event management.
• Interest in sports and working in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the hiring process including job fairs, postings, phone screenings, onboarding, and employee orientation.
• Learn about scheduling and maintaining employee files during the baseball season.
• Work on projects to ensure smooth game day operations.
• Engage in employee relations and engagement activities.
• Check in employees on game days and assist with clocking in.
• Provide support around the ballpark as needed.
