About The Position

The Whitecaps Attendant/Server is responsible for serving ice cream and desserts, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor to interact effectively with customers.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately take orders and handle cash transactions.
  • Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in food service or customer service is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently to assist guests
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
  • Ability to bend and twist, push, and pull, stoop, and kneel
  • Ascend and descend a ladder

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly, take their orders accurately, and provide recommendations on flavors and toppings.
  • Ensure a pleasant experience for all guests.
  • Scoop and serve ice cream, prepare various desserts, and handle cash and credit transactions efficiently.
  • Keep the ice cream shop clean and organized, including washing equipment, cleaning tables, and ensuring that all areas meet health and safety standards.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels of ice cream, toppings, and supplies.
  • Notify management of low stock to ensure popular items are always available.
  • Maintain an understanding of the menu, including flavors, ingredients, and seasonal offerings, to answer customer inquiries and suggest products based on preferences.
  • Must adhere to the company’s Service culture – 4 Keys to creating guests for life. 
  • Must participate in all required meetings and training.
  • Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards.
  • Properly handle and maintain all equipment.
  • Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and constructive feedback in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures.
  • Serve customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multitask.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings and must be able to make recommendations.
  • Observe relevant health and safety standards.
  • Ensure that the opening/closing duties are complete as per protocol.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all the retail items.
  • Abide by all policies and safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
