The position provides direct support for the two spray dryers for production and CIP, covering breaks for any position within the whey plant and occasionally directing production activities. The role involves reviewing equipment status, supporting dryer operators, maintaining cleanliness, operating dryers, testing products, and ensuring smooth production runs. The employee will also be responsible for taking samples for lab analysis, maintaining product loss sheets, and facilitating communication between operators and management. Training new team members and ensuring compliance with safety and food safety regulations are also key responsibilities.

  • Review equipment status and record findings and occurrences.
  • Support dryer operator in product change overs and installation of nozzles.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dryer rooms alongside the dryer operator.
  • Assist in environmental daily tasks with the dryer operators.
  • Operate dryer to manufacture product to required specifications.
  • Test product for required specifications and make adjustments as needed.
  • Check flow splits and jumper placement, making pre-set adjustments.
  • Take special samples for lab analysis and carry out routine product analysis.
  • Maintain product loss sheets and report process loss and inventory records.
  • Facilitate training of new team members and track skill achievement.
  • Ensure safe operating practices and report work-related injuries.
  • Oversee CIP for assigned machinery and ensure GMPs are followed.
  • Complete all job activities following set safety and operational SOPs.
  • Utilize GPS processes to drive zero losses and uphold company culture.
  • Comply with occupational safety and health standards.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Forklift and scissor lift certification and general maintenance knowledge required.
  • Excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Ability to run, or learn to run and troubleshoot all equipment.
  • Desire to grow with the company.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail and record keeping.
