About The Position

As a well-established regional paving and construction company, we are seeking a Wheelman to join the field operations team based in southern Maine. This hands-on role is critical to the success of asphalt paving projects across the region, offering the chance to work with an experienced crew and reliable equipment in a safety-first environment. What You'll Do as the Wheelman: Operate the wheel on paving equipment as part of a cohesive crew across various project sites Monitor and adjust machine controls and grade/slope settings to meet job specifications Identify and report safety issues or equipment concerns immediately to the foreman Lift or maneuver up to 50 pounds regularly and safely Travel regionally with the crew as needed, including overnight stays Work extended hours in outdoor conditions, often in hot weather, while following all safety protocols

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience operating the wheel on asphalt paving equipment
• Familiarity with DOT standards, paving operations, and safety procedures
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (CDL preferred)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Comfort with physically demanding labor and extended shifts in the field

Nice To Haves

• Experience reading and interpreting MSDS sheets
• Previous work with slope automation or advanced paving technology
• CDL license or other industry certifications
