About The Position

Wheeler Historic Farm is currently hiring temporary staff for various positions including Farmers & Wagon/Cow Train drivers, Summer Camp Counselors, Tour Guides, and Cashiers. The farm offers flexible hours and a fun environment, seeking motivated, reliable, and people-friendly individuals to join the team. The roles involve a variety of tasks from farming duties to customer service, all aimed at providing a safe and engaging experience for visitors and participants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Utah Driver's License at the time of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass a required background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of farming and physical maintenance duties to provide a safe and clean working farm environment.
  • Participate in the daily cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of the farm.
  • Feed and water livestock.
  • Inspect, maintain, clean, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences.
  • Plant, cultivate, weed, and harvest crops and gardens.
  • Operate farm and landscape equipment.
  • Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
  • Perform animal care, grooming, and maintenance as directed by the farmer.
  • Milk cows and goats by hand.
  • Maintain security of farmland, buildings, and animals.
  • Clear away animal waste and hose out operational areas.
  • Move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another.
  • Demonstrate farm techniques and activities to the public.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with participants, staff, and farm employees.
  • Assist in delivery of youth farm recreation activities.
  • Plan and implement daily activities according to program needs.
  • Facilitate skill-based and project-based group activities for youth.
  • Provide leadership to youth engaged in program activities.
  • Oversee and monitor all indoor and outdoor areas as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining and controlling inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of facility, programs, activities, and events.
  • Provide tours of Wheeler Farm to individuals and groups.
  • Relay historical and animal facts and provide information for visitors.
  • Operate cash register, handle money, and reconcile end of shift sales.
  • Ensure customers receive outstanding service.
