About The Position

Wheeler Historic Farm is currently hiring temporary staff for various positions including Farmers & Wagon/Cow Train drivers, Summer Camp Counselors, Tour Guides, and Cashiers. The farm offers flexible hours and a fun environment, seeking motivated and reliable individuals who are people-friendly. The roles involve a variety of tasks related to farming, youth recreation, guiding tours, and customer service.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
• Possession of a valid Utah Driver's License at the time of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must pass a required background investigation.

• Experience in farming or animal care.
• Experience working with youth in a camp or educational setting.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of farming and physical maintenance duties to provide a safe and clean working farm environment.
• Participate in the daily cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of the farm.
• Feed and water livestock.
• Inspect, maintain, clean, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences.
• Plant, cultivate, weed, and harvest crops and gardens.
• Operate farm and landscape equipment.
• Clean stalls, pens, and equipment using appropriate cleaners, equipment, and tools.
• Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
• Perform animal care, grooming, and maintenance as directed by the farmer.
• Milk cows and goats by hand.
• Maintain security of farmland, buildings, and animals.
• Clear away animal waste and hose out operational areas.
• Move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another manually or using trucks or carts.
• Demonstrate farm techniques and activities to the public.
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with participants, staff, and farm employees as a Summer Camp Counselor.
• Assist in delivery of youth farm recreation activities, including farmhand duties and animal handling.
• Plan and implement daily activities according to program needs.
• Facilitate skill-based and project-based group activities for youth.
• Provide leadership to youth engaged in program activities.
• Provide tours of Wheeler Farm to individuals and groups as a Tour Guide.
• Relay historical and animal facts and provide information for visitors.
• Operate cash register and handle money as a Cashier.
• Ensure customers receive outstanding service and maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the store.
