Independence Excavating is looking for a hard working and experienced Excavator Operator to join our operations! Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3-5 years’ experience running heavy equipment including mini and large excavators is required.
• Must be willing to do general maintenance of the equipment.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
• Must be able to perform a try-out running the equipment during the interview process.
• Position functions in the field (100%), in all types of weather conditions.
• Current Union Member in good status with the International Union of Operating Engineers, or a willingness to become a member.

Responsibilities

• Operate a large 988 class wheel loader in a quarry crushing operations role.
• Load haul trucks with raw unprocessed stone in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance (greasing, fluid checks, etc.).
• Communicate with plant operators, truck drivers, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, including assisting with general quarry housekeeping.
• Follow all company and MSHA safety policies and procedures.
• Report any equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately.
