WGL has an immediate need for a Transmission Engineer to provide design and engineering support for the Engineering group and Gas Transportation. Civil Engineering is highly preferred. WGL will hire at Level I, II, III or IV depending on the candidate's experience.

  • Manage transmission and high pressure large-diameter distribution pipeline projects of small to moderate scope including route analysis and selection, pipeline design, project cost estimating, coordinating easement acquisition and permitting, material identification & acquisition, construction specifications, assistance with contractor bid and selection process, construction management support, restoration and documentation activities.
  • Manage budget and provide cost/schedule forecasts for projects mentioned above. Assist with the development and justification of annual capital budget items. Provide weekly MOS reports.
  • Provide civil engineering design function for the entire Corporate Engineering and GT Unit.
  • Provide overall engineering support for operating and maintenance and special projects.
  • Provide engineering assistance for the development of new or updating of existing O&M procedures as well as Design & Construction standards.
  • Provide project support for or manage large-scale or complex transmission/distribution piping projects.
  • Provide analysis of complex loading scenarios on existing transmission and high pressure distribution pipelines.
  • Provide support for or manage civil/structural projects within WGL process facilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical or Civil.
  • A general knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, for data management, research, analysis, and reporting purposes.
  • Internship or previous relevant experience for Engineer Level I.
  • "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) Certification preferred for Engineer Level I.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required for Engineer Level II.
  • "Project Management Professional" (PMP) Certification preferred for Engineer Level II.
  • 3+ Years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required for Engineer Level III.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred for Engineer Level III.
  • 5+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required for Engineer Level IV.
  • GTI CGTP for Transmission Certification is preferred for Engineer Level IV.
  • Competitive salary range of $73,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
