About The Position

Washington Gas is seeking a Supervisor, Transportation to lead our Rockville, MD team! The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily work activities associated with the maintenance and safe operation of Washington Gas' transportation fleet and power-operated equipment. The Supervisor may serve on a 24-hour on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with demonstrated leadership abilities required.
  • Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A or B Certification, Medical Card, and Forklift qualified within six months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and/or natural gas vehicle codes and standards, NGV compressor stations, vehicle safety, and commercial driver's license requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate a variety of computer software and fleet-related programs (i.e., vehicle maintenance software, such as Fleetwave, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Workday, etc.) to share, retrieve, document, and research business and personnel information and data.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure mutually agreeable contracts and working arrangements with business partners.
  • Ability to logically analyze and solve narrowly defined business problems.
  • Excellent ability to listen and communicate ideas and information professionally and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel between Washington Gas' Fleet locations within the DMV area.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a two-shift garage operation of vehicle/lube technicians for scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance/repairs of light- and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment fleet.
  • Supervises maintenance/repair of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs).
  • Proficiently utilizes fleet-related software, such as Fleetwave.
  • Works and manages the daily operations with current knowledge of equipment and/or natural gas vehicle codes and standards, NGV compressor stations, vehicle safety, and commercial driver license requirements.
  • Represents the company's interests before external audiences, including expert witness testimony and contractual negotiations.
  • Collaborates with external audiences to review and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, guidelines, systems, and services within the assigned unit.
  • Sets and achieves goals that focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Anticipates solutions that will enhance customer satisfaction and is responsive to their needs.
  • Obtains feedback from others and uses it to improve services and to anticipate future needs.
  • Recommends and determines replacement of equipment.
  • Interacts with external audiences to interpret guidelines and procedures and/or to resolve daily problems associated with the units' programs, systems, and services.
