About The Position

Join the V3 Team and take your career to the next level! We are looking for a full-time Wetland Scientist, with 3 to 5 years of experience conducting wetland delineations, to join our Wetland & Ecology team in our Woodridge, Illinois office. This position is part of a multidisciplinary architecture/engineering (A/E) consulting firm and offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with engineers, planners, regulatory agencies, and environmental professionals on a wide range of projects throughout Illinois and the Midwest. The primary role for this position will be conducting wetland delineation field work as part of a field team, assisting with tree surveys, writing technical wetland reports, utilizing GIS ArcPro to prepare exhibits, and conducting other field related assessments and data collection. Qualified candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills as the position includes interaction with internal team members, external clients and regulatory agency personnel. In addition, they must be able to work both independently and, in a team-based environment while also possessing the ability to manage several activities at once. Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in botany, ecology, soil science, environmental science, or other biological sciences.
  • 3-5 years conducting wetland delineations in Illinois/Midwest.
  • Experience with professional wetland delineations.
  • Have received formal wetland delineation training (certificate of completion required).
  • Familiar with mapping software (GIS, ArcPro).
  • Familiar with Microsoft programs such as Word & Excel.
  • Be able to work in the field, inclement weather included, for long hours.
  • Be open to potential travel throughout the Midwest with overnight stays.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to meet V3’s company vehicle driving requirements.
  • Have organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Have a willingness to learn and be part of a team.
  • Be an effective communicator.
  • Have time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Arborist certification is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Wetland delineation field work and technical report writing.
  • Assisting with tree surveys including field work & data entry and analysis.
  • Dominant plant identification/floristic inventories for wetland delineation field work, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Soils assessment as part of the wetland delineation field data collection activities.
  • Wetland delineation report preparation, including Floristic Quality Assessments.
  • Assisting with wetland mitigation design and monitoring.
  • Preparing exhibits using GIS (ArcPro).
  • Coordinating and meeting with regulatory agency staff.
  • Preparing and submitting threatened & endangered species consultations with regulatory agencies.
