About The Position

Strittmatter Companies, a leading site development and excavation contractor in the DC Metro area, is seeking a Wet Utility Foreman to join our team. This role requires running a small crew, operating heavy equipment, and overseeing daily wet utility operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong work ethic and proven experience installing water, sewer, and storm drain systems.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of wet utility experience (water, sewer, storm drain installation).
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or foreman experience running a crew.
  • Ability to efficiently operate equipment when needed.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to manage both crew and subcontractors.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites across the DC/MD/VA region.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a crew on wet utility projects, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality control.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed, including excavators, loaders, and dozers.
  • Perform and oversee trenching, grading, pipe installation, backfilling, and other earthwork tasks.
  • Partner with Area Foreman and Project Manager's to set daily production goals, plan work, and address delays.
  • Communicate with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and crew members to maintain smooth job-site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Strittmatter Companies’ safety policies.
  • Manage job-site administration: production tracking, photos, notes, and time entry via iPad/software.
  • Oversee equipment care including maintenance, cleaning, security, and reporting of damages or losses.
  • Promote a positive team culture, providing direction, on-the-job training, and accountability for crew members.
