About The Position

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. We are thrilled to introduce a remarkable opportunity to join Micron as a Wet Mechanical Operations and Design Engineer. This position is tailor-made for an ambitious professional eager to establish a significant impact in the domain of wet mechanical system design and operations. You will have a crucial role in ensuring our projects are delivered flawlessly and uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in wet mechanical engineering, including 2 years coordinating third-party design or managing design for plumbing, HVAC hydronic, or process piping systems.
  • Proficient understanding of wet mechanical system development, encompassing plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems (chilled/hot water), and process piping for water-based applications in industrial or high-tech facilities.
  • Understanding of industry norms and guidelines, including ASME B31.1, Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), International Mechanical Code (IPC), and ASHRAE standards.
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
  • Experience with control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for composing coordination is highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with strict wet mechanical system requirements.
  • Knowledge of balanced development practices, such as water conservation, energy-efficient hydronic systems, or greywater recycling.
  • Familiarity with clash detection and build integration processes using BIM tools.
  • Experience in facilities system modeling and analysis to include PSA (Pipe Stress Analysis) and system hydraulics using PipeFlo.
  • Ability to mentor internal teams or collaborate effectively with external collaborators to ensure build alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with third-party design firms to develop wet mechanical systems, including plumbing (e.g., domestic water, sanitary sewer), HVAC hydronic systems (e.g., chilled water, hot water, heat recovery water), and process piping for water-based systems.
  • Review and validate third-party development deliverables, such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, UPC, IPC).
  • Conduct technical evaluations of third-party compositions, verifying performance metrics such as flow rates, pressure, thermal efficiency, and system reliability.
  • Work together with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal collaborators to align wet mechanical system compositions with facility needs and project timelines.
  • Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party constructions, identifying and resolving issues related to constructability, efficiency, or compliance with building codes and laws.
  • Ensure third-party builds integrate seamlessly with other facility systems, such as Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), chemical systems, or gas systems, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for coordination.
  • Coordinate the execution of safety and regulatory protocols for wet mechanical systems, ensuring alignment to OSHA, EPA, and local laws (e.g., Idaho State Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code).
  • Support commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party development performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.
  • Use BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Offer technical mentorship to third-party designers, ensuring alignment with industry guidelines and advancements in wet mechanical system technologies.
  • Monitor project progress, manage development-related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality development deliverables.
