About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Wet Coat Painter to operate electrostatic painting equipment and ensure high‑quality finishes on metal workpieces. This role uses cone, disk, and nozzle‑type electrostatic systems to apply negatively charged paint particles to positively charged parts. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and able to work independently in a fast‑paced production environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in industrial painting or electrostatic systems preferred.
  • Able to operate hand tools, air‑powered tools, and hoists.
  • Comfortable performing pH and chemical concentration testing.
  • Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals).
  • Ability to compute ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Able to follow verbal, written, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine production issues with practical reasoning.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands/arms for the full 10‑hour shift.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching required.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass a respirator fit test and be comfortable wearing a respirator.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Work environment ranges from moderate to loud; hearing protection required in certain areas.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as acid wash, paint thinner, lacquer‑based paints, and cleaners.

Responsibilities

  • Operate wet coat spray equipment, adjusting valves and monitoring gauges to maintain proper pressure and paint flow.
  • Readjust spray patterns and pressures to correct coating flaws and maintain consistent quality.
  • Mix paint to specification using a viscometer and adjust for environmental changes.
  • Measure paint thickness to maintain consistent 2–5 mil coverage.
  • Identify color codes and anticipate upcoming color changes.
  • Prepare parts for painting; hang parts using correct hooks and proper spacing.
  • Inspect painted workpieces for sags, runs, or missed areas.
  • De‑hang and stack finished parts to prevent damage
  • Monitor and record booth manometer readings; replace filters as needed.
  • Safely operate hoists, forklifts, and power buggies to move materials and finished products.
  • Handle tools, machinery, chemicals, and equipment with care and attention.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
