About The Position

NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision of the Wellness and Health Benefits Manager, the candidate in this title will carry out and/or delegate tasks in support of the Health Promotion and Nutrition programming and services. These services are provided by the Office on Aging and are performed in the community. Candidate will exercise responsible control over the quality of the programs, administrative processes, and conformity to standard operating procedures and guidelines. This position will also be responsible for data collection and reporting. This is responsible work and includes supporting the Wellness and Health Benefits Manager in all aspects of planning, implementing, and evaluating activities under the Health Promotion and Nutrition program. Work requires frequent walking, standing, and other limited physical activity including off-site travel.

Requirements

  • Understanding of, and ability to work with both well and frail elderly individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of programs and services offered by other agencies is beneficial.
  • Ability to learn about State, county, and departmental services and programs available to seniors
  • Ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate programs
  • Ability to work with other resource professionals to create programming
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with the public and with other service providers
  • Ability to maintain confidential information concerning participants and their families
  • Ability to learn, interpret and apply state, county and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to keep records
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Data entry experience is required
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time as well as the ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to drive a County vehicle.
  • Associate's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, health education, adult recreation, counseling, or behavioral science.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: health and wellness programming, customer service operations, administrative support, educational or social services.
  • Possession of a valid Class "C" non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points.
  • Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manuals as required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Takes an active role in project management and in implementation of program initiatives related to the Maryland Department on Aging or other funding entities
  • Collects and records all data and form collection related to the requirements from the Maryland Department on Aging or other funding entities
  • Serves as a contact for community partners in relation to health, wellness, and nutrition programs
  • Assists in marketing efforts with the Department of Community Services to create materials related to the health, wellness, and nutrition programming.
