About The Position

The Wellness Program Coordinator at Prince George's County Public Schools will oversee and manage wellness programs, ensuring they align with health standards and regulations. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the wellness of students, families, and staff through effective program implementation and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, public health, or a closely related field required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working as a nurse in the field of public or community health required.
  • Holds or is eligible for a Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Extensive knowledge of child and adolescent development, health, substance abuse/use, and reproductive health.
  • Excellent listening skills and communication skills both orally and written for a variety of audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish in reading, writing, speaking, and listening preferred.
  • Experience in leading/participating on multiple and various committees, providing direct support to children and adults, and writing state and federal grants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing day-to-day oversight of wellness centers and district initiatives including referrals, data collection, evaluation, feedback, and monitoring of key stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor the implementation and need for wellness and health programs and initiatives to support the overall wellness of students, families, and staff.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to support district-wide community, student, and staff wellness initiatives.
  • Serve as the leader and liaison to ensure successful outcomes of community wellness initiatives by leading activities and collaborating with other key district offices, agencies, and constituents.
  • Ensure the fidelity of record keeping and ensure confidential information is stored and secured.
  • Promote public service announcements, literature, and multimedia promotions for all communities, including non-English speaking families.
  • Participate and attend national, state, and county meetings to address the wellness needs of communities, students, and families in Prince George's County.
  • Develop, review, and monitor adherence to policies and procedures to ensure the school system's compliance and engage in required state reporting requirements.
  • Lead the development and revision of policies and procedures related to School-Based Wellness Centers and training to students, families, staff, and external stakeholders regarding wellness.
  • Provide consultation to nurses as needed regarding wellness activities, programs, and procedural matters.
