About The Position

We are seeking a Wellness Policy Specialist (Operations & Policy Analyst 1) to join our Child Nutrition Office at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent part-time position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This position is expected to work 20 hours per week and work days will be Monday - Friday. This role is a hybrid of remote work and will need to report to the office when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities. Remote work is embraced to the fullest extent possible without interfering with business. The role involves frequent travel throughout the state and may occasionally require evening, weekend, or extended hours for trainings, meetings, or other work-related events. Must have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record or provide an acceptable alternate method of transportation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Grant Manager in implementing grant activities and meeting program objectives.
  • Provide operational and administrative support, including organizing meetings, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
  • Develop, review, and recommend policies and guidelines to promote student wellness.
  • Coordinate school wellness initiatives with state and local partners, including districts, community programs, and advisory committees.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to support decision-making and improve processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of practices that enhance student nutrition, physical activity, and health services.
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend solutions to improve program effectiveness and efficiency.
