Supervise and monitor nursing staff to obtain highest quality care by performing routine nursing duties. Accountable to Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care. Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state
  • Work experience in the geriatric field
  • Ability to communicate well and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with visitors, staff and residents in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure at times.
  • Must be able to perform good grooming practices, personal hygiene and be punctual and regular in attendance.
  • Must have warm, friendly, congenial personality.
  • Must present a professional appearance and possess an empathetic attitude towards seniors.
  • Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed.
  • CPR certified, or obtained within 90 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  • May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
  • May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise HHAs, CNAs and the facility staff.
  • Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents if needed.
  • Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of patients to Director of Wellness “DOW” /Delegating R.N./Physician.
  • Administers medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders in an accurate, safe manner, observes effectiveness and reports to physician if needed.
  • Informs DOW of when supplies and equipment are needed.
  • Orders medication from pharmacy when needed.
  • Supervises the Home Health Aide to ensure that all nursing care is given properly, safely and of the up most quality.
  • Administers emergency first aid.
  • Assures that daily assignments for patient care, incidental duties, performed by nurse and HHA as outlined by DOW are carried out. Re: Nurse/HHA documentation, Ex: V/S, weights, nurse’s notes, medication, kardex, etc.
  • Make daily rounds of all patients and area.
  • Recognize, interpret and report conditions to the DOW/RN/ED as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of nurse’s station, med room and cart.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff.
  • Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
  • Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
  • Provide guidance for nursing assistants.
  • Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors and personnel.
  • Perform related work as required per assignment.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities are carried out for both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility
  • At times it may be necessary to perform other duties as requested by the Assisted Living Manager.
  • Refusal to perform any task as directed by the General Manager will be cause for disciplinary action.
